Trance Party Ultimate Checklist and Prepping

CheckListIf you have ever gone camping, you should have a fair idea of what you should take and what you shouldn’t. But a Trance Party could end up being some what of a different outing. I’ve put together a Checklist and Prepping segment for those who needs some stern advice.

Over the years I have experienced a steady grow in the frequency of the Psytrance parties. So much so that for the first time that I can recall, all the weekends from now till March is booked out for just such events. The Cape has truly become a Mecca for Trance Partiers.

How-to-go-about:

So what? You get the chance to have a whole weekend off and feel you need to get away from the city? Be in the big wide open and still have a party? Easy, just pop onto www.3am.co.za or www.bomelakiesie.co.za, and within seconds you’ll find a list of trance event happening weekend after weekend after weekend. Great for planning your weekends in advance.

Before-you-go:

  1. Tent - Due to popular belief it’s better sleeping in doors.
  2. Sleeping bag and Pillow – For the 3-day parties, your gonna need some shut eye.
  3. Torch – Trust me, you’ll regret not taking it.
  4. H2O – At some parties this have been over looked.
  5. Money – And take more than just you ticket money.
  6. Food – Oh ja, and food. < Contribution by l33t
  7. Ticket – If you did buy it at an outlet, take it with to prove it.
  8. Shoes – Take some really comfortable ones. It’s not nice to wear your feet out before the game starts.
  9. Swimwear – Most venues has a place for a dip.
  10. Toiletries and TP – Bad breath plagues us all, and as for the TP… (see item No.3)
  11. Water Bottle (or 2) – Just to make sure you have something to drink out of.
  12. Alcohol - Hardly any event in life is complete without some booze. < Addition by Justin
  13. Change of Clothes – Smelly cat, smelly cat… < Addition by Justin

Optional

  1. Chair(s) – It’s nice to have a seat to have a rest in. Just be aware of chair politics.
  2. Shade – Either in the form of a Gazibo, spun cloth or a umbrela of sort.
  3. Hammock – Next level stuff. It’s the best tool to chill in.
  4. Friends – I can’t recall ever going to an outdoor on my own, ever.
  5. Sunblock and Shades – Stay cool.
  6. Cooler box and tons of ice – “It” stays cool right through the party. < Addition by Justin

State-of-mind:

Don’t rush things. When you’re in to much of a rush you will forget important parts of the puzzle. Double check your tent. I’ve made the mistake to go to a Easter Vortex without tent poles. I was not very happy about that.

Directions-at-hand:

It’s a good idea to have the excact directions on how to find your trance party destination. It’s a beautiful country with some wickedly remote places… to get lost in.

When-you-arrive:

It’s always, and I mean always a good idea to get there when it’s still light outside. Setting up your camp site can become a tiresome affair when you have to do things in the dark.

It pays to get there early… but that being said, to early could land you a camping spot inside the bass bin. Not my pick of property. Getting there early does ensure ample sites to pick from. And getting those shady spots become somewhat of a bonus when the African sun burns with all it’s fury.
Once-your-settled:

Check out the place. Another bonus when going early or before dark. You familiarise yourself with the venue. Where you get water is one of the most crucial missions. You’re gonna need to know where to get. Go check what the stalls have to offer. Why not get a balloon while your at it.

Just wait for the music to slowly progress into the night and things should take care of itself. Enjoy the music and enjoy the people. You shouldn’t have a problem.

That should be it. Surely you may stray from the path and just completely rough it. Leave at some dire hour in the evening for the party and you car double as a camp. Whatever works for you. Just have the peace, unity and respect thing happening and I’d love to see you there.
