Where were you born and where are you staying now?

I was born in Durban, moved to Joburg when I was 5 and I’ve been living in Cape Town for the last 4 to 5 years.

What artists are you currently listening to?

Absolum, Azax Syndrom, Digital Talk, Lost & Found, Pitch Hikers, Painkiller, Bliss, Headroom. My favourite track at the moment is Lost & Found – Scanner V2.0

When and what was your initial influence to Psytrance?

I’ve always listened to anything that sounds good (from drum & bass to pop) but it was when I first heard Infected’s album ‘The Gathering’ that I really started to enjoy psy trance. The first party I went to was an Alien Safari where I saw Shift playing his ‘Red Line’ album live. The rest is history.

What Label are you under and what has it meant to you?

Nexus Media – I really enjoy the work produced by the Nexus guys so I’m excited to be part of a label that many of my favourite artists are from, and I think it’s a great label with which to release a debut album.

When and what can we expect from your latest album?

I’m hoping to release some more singles this year as well as working on tracks for the album which should be released sometime next year. I’ve been (and plan to continue) working hard as I want the album to have its own special sound.

What are your favorite VST’s?

Predator, Vanguard, Discovery, Zeta, Albino.

What EFX units do you use?

I like the Waves plugins, all the Ohmboys plugins and some of the Antares stuff. I use Predator as an FX unit as well as a VST.

What are your favorite pieces of hardware in your studio?

I use a Virus TI quite often, but I don’t own it though. If that doesn’t count, my PC.

What was your best experience in front of a live crowd?

NYE Prism 2006/2007 – I played 3 hours after the countdown and the dancefloor was crazy.

What animal describes your music best?

I try to make my music tell a story from beginning to end so I guess its up to the listener to decide!

If you could do a collaboration with ANY artist, who would it be and why?

Absolum – His music is very inspiring and I know I would learn a lot from him.

From what other artist(s) do you gain inspiration?

Along with the ones I’ve mentioned above, Shift, Slug, Brethren, Phyx, Tickets, Rabdom L, Twisted System, Multistate, Artifakt, Abomination, Hydraglyph, CPU, Synergy etc. There are too many to mention, but anyone who makes good music really.

Is there any difference in crowds from party to party?

Definitely. The vibe is always different at parties but in general people just want to party.

You think you’ll ever NOT be able to make Psytrance?

I hope to be producing music my entire life – I can’t see myself writing psy trance at 70 but I don’t think I’ll ever forget how.

How long does it take you to make a track 90% complete?

It depends, sometimes 3 days, sometimes 2 months. It’s usually the ones I do quickly that people appreciate more, probably because when I see there’s potential for a good track I work harder and faster.

Do you create sounds by a fool proof process or is everything freestyle and tweaking?

A bit of both, it depends what sounds they are.

Do you have tip or trick for us?

When producing, pick an artist you enjoy and put one of their tracks at the top of your project. Then when creating leads/ atmospheres/ whatever, keep referencing to their track to make sure your production is on par with a professional piece of music. This can really help with production as well as the overall arrangement of the project.
