Oh happy days, I just got this CD

And wow am I impressed, so much so that im gonna do a full review. Awesome track selection, and the tracks flow from one to the other, like an epic adventure; with flaring highs, subilminal lows and a twist thrown in for good measure. Excellent.

Oh happy days, I just got this CD

And wow am I impressed, so much so that im gonna do a full review. Awesome track selection, and the tracks flow from one to the other, like an epic adventure; with flaring highs, subilminal lows and a twist thrown in for good measure. Excellent.

Enough of my blabbing, lets get involved…

1. Slug – How High
Absolutely brilliant, definately one of my favourites on this compilation.
Starts off real easy and mutates into melodic mayhem – Sluggy style – Phat basslines with exotic neotropic synths – Where the hell are you pulling this stuff from yo?! Nice way to start off, just makes me want to delve deeper into the rest of the CD.

2. Perplex & Shift – Retrobution
Shift once again merges his sound with yet another. And the aftermath of this conncoction…
A spiralling vortex of choas versus order. Add some hot, fresh synths and BOOM: Mushroom clouds on the dancefloor!

3. Pitch Hikers – Give the Order
Wheeeee! New Pitch Hikers ^_^ And as always they don’t dissapoint. One of my favourite acts at the moment, and this track gives me more steam! Give us the ORDER! GoGo!

4. Abomination & Slug – Bleed
Another interesting combonation, but not surprising since they are from the same record label. After being blown away by the last CD from this Israeli duo, I was curious to hear what experiments they conjoured up with Slug. And what an awesome mix up this presented. That definite Slug groove + that moody Abomination soundscapes = psychedelic magic.
Hopefully we’ll see some more of this critical “edge” combo in the not too distant future.

5. Shift – Dead Meat
Not exactly the Shift I’ve come to know, that No nonsence, No mercy, Old Skool Shift. More a neo-Shift sound. Something for everyone, if you know what I’m saying…

6. Painkiller vs Bliss – Ragga Time
Fresh noise, woohoo! I’ve heard of Bliss, but never of Painkiller. & ooooh, damn this is cooking! My right leg can’t stop bopping (I think its been bopping since I pressed play). In your face twilight madness.

7. Multistate – Spoil
Another one of my favourites on this comp. This is gonna be rocking dancefloors all Summer. Correct me if i wrong but this is a RMX of the original. And man oh man, if you liked the original this gonna blow your hair back, if not rip it out completely. Indeed we truly are “spoilt” here on the tip of Africa. muhahahaha! (that evil laugh sample rocks =)

8. Manifold – Face
And a little something for the ladies, Sluggy you smoothie you. Working that angle. Not my cuppa tea, but for the hunnies in sunnies, get those Sunday hips ready for some mid day action. Cmon Summer!!

9. Brethren – More Power
My favourite psychotic siblings are back with another dancefloor nuke! This track completely consumes me from the word go. Phat basslines, so yummy I can taste it! Solid.

All in all i give this compilation 9/10 **Highly recommended**

Ready my steed squire!
Summer, here I come…
